Meet Dr. Chawla

Board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Suchie Chawla is a rare combination of being both a Dentist and a Physician.

She attended The University of Virginia and graduated with honors followed by earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at The New York University. She subsequently earned her Doctorate of Medicine (MD) at the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She went on to complete a General Surgery internship and her residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, serving as a chief resident.

Dr. Chawla is one of the select few Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in the area that has earned both a dental and medical degree. Her extensive clinical experience ranges from surgical procedures like wisdom teeth extraction, implants, bone grafting, and intravenous sedation to complex conditions involving maxillofacial pathology, facial trauma and facial reconstructive surgery.

Her success with hundreds of procedures stems from combining safety and skill with a strong commitment to achieving a customized result for each individual. She takes pride in knowing that patients who come to her depart with renewed confidence and self-esteem.

In addition, to clinical practice, Dr. Chawla has been actively involved in teaching residents at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She also holds clinical privileges at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Chawla also spends her time travelling to underserved areas to provide free surgical care to children born with facial deformities.

She is a fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Dentists, and New York Academy of Dentists, and member of New York State Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, New York State Dental association, New York County Dental Society.

She has been honored by her peers to the Super Doctors® list in sequential years in the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, most recently published in the New York Times Magazine.

Dr. Chawla currently resides in New York City with her husband who is an oncologist at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center. They both enjoy travelling in their free time.
